The PADI Instructor Development Course in our Sanur flagship center is designed to develop and refine your personal and professional teaching skills.

As a PADI 5* CDC Center, we are one of the few on the island that can provide you with the theoretical and practical knowledge required to cultivate your teaching and leadership abilities as a diving instructor. We also offer a number of diving courses and specialties.

Course overview

The PADI instructor Development Course qualifies you to attend the PADI Instructor Exam (IE), and is made up of 2 FUNdamental parts:
The first part is the Diving Instructor Course (all PADI courses & programs, the philosophy, class organization, marketing, etc…)
The Second part is training as an Emergency First Response Instructor (unless you are already an active CPR & first aid instructor).
The objective of the diving instructor course is to allow you to get hands on experiences and the full comprehension of becoming a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. You will participate in various underwater and dry workshops focusing on developing your own style of teaching. We do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach that creates drones and we guarantee you will have a lot of FUN!
The Emergency First Response Course is another SUPER fun 2-day course to qualify you to become an EFR instructor. You will then be qualified to teach people how to save lives, give rescue breaths, CPR, and handle other life-saving techniques.

Master Scuba Diver Trainer

PADI Instructor Specialty Courses and Master Scuba Diver Training:
You will benefit from taking specialty instructor course training after being certified as an PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. The specialties will allow you to distinguish yourself right away once you become an instructor by being able to teach them immediately after your qualification. These very practical and technique-oriented courses cover about 15 Padi specialties and can be added to the IDC training. This is the perfect time to add cards in your game by specialising as an instructor in the specialties that interest you (deep, nitrox, wreck, sidemount, drift, night, etc…).
The PADI Master Scuba Diver Training program is a unique 5-day program, the crème de la crème of the art of diving. The MSDT rating is a major asset on the employment market and is becoming more and more a selection criteria for many job opportunities. You will have to choose at least 5 Instructor Specialties and we will organise a specific training session combining all the aspects of it. After having certified 25 divers, you will only have to apply directly to PADI to get the prestigious Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating.

The Padi IDCS course is probably the most rewarding course an instructor can take.
You can compare it to the satisfaction you had when you did your Rescue Diver course. As a certified diver, you became a better diver. Here, you will become a better instructor. We will develop and refine your evaluation skills that will allow you to be better at objectively score (& justify) and debrief teaching performances at membership levels. You will become the ultimate Certified Assistant.
Becoming a Staff Instructor will allow you to independently teach and certify Padi Assistant Instructors and assist during other key parts of the Instructor Development Course and Specialty Instructor Courses under the supervision of a Padi Course Director. The skills you will acquire will also allow you to become a better instructor while teaching and conducting Padi courses and programs. You will enhance your classroom & inwater teaching presentations and reinforce your knowledge of the dive theory towards role-model level. If you really want to boost your career, this is the way to go. You might even become a Course Director one day, who knows?

The IDCS course is generally 3-4 days of training and can be followed by the auditing of an entire IDC (12 days).

What will you do in your PADI Instructor Development Course?

What should you do before your IDC starts.
Here are some tips/focus points to focus on BEFORE our start
- Complete your IDC elearning. Work on it step by step and choose the language you are comfortable with (bahasa Indonesia, italian, korean, …)
- Complete Diving Knowledge Workbook (is on the elearning).
- Reviewed the performance requirement of the 24 skills of the DM course + Loose cylinder band/emergency weight drop/disconnect LPI. I would strongly advise to practice them focusing on neutral buoyancy demonstrations.
- Rescue ex7 unconscious diver with/without rescue breathing mask (aka pocket mask) practice in the pool.
- Knots: Sheet bend/bowline/2 half hitches mastery (check Padi app for demos)
- Lift bag use + U & expanding square search pattern.
- Compass (analog) use mastery (reciprocal, …)
- Padi Instructor Manual 2020 review & understanding of its structure. “How to use this manual” at the beginning of the IM
- Efr: current status + reviewed participant manual part 1 & 2 of primary & secondary care/care for children/CPR & Aed (self study & skills) + respective participant knowledge reviews & exams + instructor knowledge reviews (in your instructor manual)

About Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida

Lembongan is a diver, surfer, and yogi paradise only a 30-minute boat ride from southeast Bali and ideally located only 1 hour away from the Denpasar International Airport. It is part of the Klungkung Regency district which includes the three islands of Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Ceningan, and Nusa Penida.

Nusa Lembongan is around 8 square kilometers with around 5,000 inhabitants. In 2010 Nusa Penida was named an MPA (Marine Protected Area) by the 41 local villages and a strong community effort, one year later it was recognized by the Indonesian government. As a part of the district of Bali, it is rich in Hindu culture with many temples to visit and ceremonies to attend throughout the year. The people are among the friendliest in the world and are very welcoming to all visitors and proud to show off their beautiful island. It is off the beaten Bali track, but it is an adventure seekers dream with world-class diving, cliff jumping, hiking, surfing, and yoga. Bali is only a 30-minute boat ride away and filled with shopping, beaches, nightlife, and a number of adventure activities.

Diving in the Penida Marine Park

Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan have quickly become a dive destination because of its year round sightings of manta rays and the seasonal appearance of the famous Mola Mola (Sunfish). Divers travel from around the world to dive the famous dive sites of Blue Corner, Crystal Bay, and Manta Point. You’re best chance to see the Mola Mola are during the months of July to September, while manta rays are spotted year round at their favorite cleaning and feeding stations along Nusa Penida’s cliffs.

The water temperatures can range from 16 degrees to 30 degrees with cold upwelling’s arriving in June bringing nutrient rich waters from the depths of the Lombok straight. The majority of our dives are drift dives, where we jump off the boat and drift with the current until our dive is complete and the boat crew picks us up wherever we surface. The fast current draws in the large sharks and rays as it is easier for them to breathe. The ocean surrounding the three islands are a MPA (Marine Protected Area) with many research projects and conservation initiative helping to protect the land and sea park.
