• What will I do during this program?
  •  Reef Check Eco Diver course – (5 days, 7 dives) Learn about reef survey methods, fish, invertebrate and coral substrates ID and participate in 1 complete Reef Check survey.  The survey results will be logged into the global Reef Check database.
• What program do you follow during the Reef Check Eco Diver course?
  • Day 1 – Introduction + Invertebrate presentations, point out+quiz dive 1 and test
  • Day 2 – Invertebrate ID presentation point out + quiz dive 2 and test
  • Day 3 – Coral Substrates presentation Point out + quiz dive 3 and test
  • Day 4 – Survey methods workshop practice on land and 2 mock survey dive 4-5
  • Day 5 – 1 complete Reef Check survey dive (data will be logged into Reef Check database afterwards) dive 6-7 

  all while contributing to the continuing monitoring of our house reef in Lembongan Bay

• Why do we do most of our survey dives in Lembongan Bay

  The famous dive sites around the Nusas can be more crowded than Lembongan Bay and there is a bigger chance that groups of divers will disturb transect lines. 

  Lembngan bay also tend to have less current, which makes them more ideal for surveys, especially in the beginning, when divers are still learning how to survey in the correct way. 

  Finally, as it is located in front of our dive shop, Lembongan Bay serves as our house reef, and we are enthusiastic about initiating the monitoring of its health for future endeavors.

• Who should apply?

  Any competent diver with an interest in Marine Biology, Ocean Conservation, Reef Survey techniques will enjoy this course.  

  Both recreational and professional divers might find it gives them a better insight into their underwater environment and how different types of human activities impact this environment.
