Shore dive Biorock
Napoleon Reef
From our dive center in Pemuteran it takes only 7 minutes by boat, Napoleon Reef is a gently sloping reef with a flat top. A very nice variety of both hard and soft corals can be found all over the reef. Bigger animals like whale sharks, eagle rays and humphead parrotfish are sometimes found here and there is a resident whitetip reef shark normally napping on the shallow part of the reef. Here you might have the chance to see, nudibranchs, red fire gobies, moray eels, ribbon eels, mantis shrimps, octopus, leaf scorpionfish.
Biowreck
Next to the mooring line is a huge porite coral bommie which scientist estimate to be around 2000 years old. Surrounding the bommie is a sandy plateau covered in pink soft corals and huge barrel sponges. On the outer edges of the plateau a small wall slopes down to 30 plus meters. When there is a bit of current this site becomes fish soup with trevallies hunting baitfish and many other species feeding in the current. On one side of the coral bommie is an artificial metal structure in the shape of a shipwreck, which is covered in soft corals. Marine life: Trevallies, cornetfish, batfish, lionfish, scorpionfish, nudibranchs, sweetlips, thousands of damselfish and the occasional turtle.
Biorock Reef / Reborn Reef
Situated right in front of our Dive Center, the Biorock Reef is a mixture of natural and artificial reef. Metal structures with a small electric charge host many different coral species and cause prolific coral growth. With a gently sloping sandy bottom and no current, this is an excellent site for night dives and dive training. Even experienced divers enjoy the dives thanks to all the different critters that inhabit the site. Expect to see a resident school of blackspot snappers, nudibranchs, many anemone fish species, porcelain crabs, pufferfish, twinspot snappers, lion fish, pipe fish, cornetfish, frogfish, ghostpipefish and the occasional turtle.
Temple Wall
Takes 35 minutes by boat, starting from close to the temple and heading to the west you have a sheer wall with beautiful fan corals. Easy to find: Nudibranches, pygmy sea horse, orangutan crabs, squat lobsters, batfish, schooling bigmouth mackerels, reef sharks and crocodilefish.
Close encounters
Takes 7 minutes by boat. We normally descend on the east side and drift with the current. You will find a sloping reef covered in hard and soft corals and huge barrel sponges. The end of the dive is spent on the shallow reef top where hard corals form a nice garden. When there is a bit of current, thousands of fish can be seen over the reef.
Marine life include: Occasionally big animals such as turtles, reef sharks and whale sharks show up. Common to see leaf scorpionfish, mantis shrimps, nudibranchs, barrel sponge crabs, scorpionfish, redtooth triggerfish.
