What is the difference between normal tanks (compressed air) and Nitrox?

There are advantages of using Nitrox and some dive sites are more appropriate than others. To summarize the advantages of the use of Nitrox:

  • Shorter surface intervals, the reason for this is that you would absorb less nitrogen in comparison to compressed air which means there is less nitrogen than off-gas during the interval.
  • It can be especially useful for divers who do more than 2 dives per day. Š¢hanks to Nitrox the bottom time is longer because the diver has absorbed less nitrogen.
  • Many divers state that they feel less exhausted after diving with Nitrox. However, this is not proven scientifically.

The downside of Nitrox is oxygen toxicity that can occur due to increased levels of oxygen in the gas mix.
