Dives Total of 21 dives

The program is a combination of different modules. Taken as a whole it will take around 2 weeks to complete and it will include 21 dives in Pemuteran and Menjangan.

 

Each module can also be taken on its own for the duration as described below.

  • Reef Check Eco Diver Certification – (4 days) with theory study and 5 dives

Day 1 – Theory

Day 2 – Fish and Invertebrate ID plus 2 dives (offshore)

Day 3 – Coral Substrates ID plus 2 dives

Day 4 – Survey methods workshop plus 1 complete Reef Check survey dive (data will be logged into Reef Check database afterwards)

 

(30 logged dives minimum )  (1 dive check buoyancy could be required)

  • Biorock Project Part One – (2 days) Help with underwater coral gardening and adopt a baby coral.

Includes 4 dives at the Biorock Project

(minimum open water certified)

  • Fish ID Workshop Dive Practical – Coral Reef survey on Pemuteran local reefs and Menjangan reefs (1 day) 2 dives

(minimum open water certified)

  • Underwater cleanup and predator hunt (1 day) 2 dives

(minimum open water certified)

 

 

Advanced modules:

  • Diving in Biorock Project Part Two – (2 days) 4 dives

(requires completion of reef check eco diver module)

 

  • Reef Check Eco Diver course practical part 2 (2 days) 4 dives
  1. 2 Reef survey on Pemuteran local reefs
  2. 2 Reef surveys on Menjangan reefs

(requires completion of reef check eco diver module)

 

Who should apply

 

For the whole course, those interested to be certified to conduct your own Reef Check surveys and take an active role in coral reefs conservation.
*(minimum open water certified level with 30 logged dives)

Some of the modules are open to any certified diver with an interest in coral conservation.

 

Prerequisites

minimum open water certified level with 30 logged dives

and good buoyancy (buoyancy dive check might be required)
