Pemuteran Training Day with Bali Diving Academy

In March we finally had a quiet day in Pemuteran, so we could have a long-anticipated EFR and emergency training day with all our staff members at Bali Diving Academy Pemuteran.

First of all a huge thanks to our Padi instructor Edi, without him the day would not have been possible. He showed all our staff the proper way to do CPR and how to provide oxygen to divers in trouble.  All our staff, from Wayan, who is in charge of the compressor, to Iluh, our secretary, had a chance to practice mouth to mouth resuscitation and chest compressions.  Everyone also had to demonstrate proficiency in assembling and using various types of oxygen equipment that we do have in all our diving centers in Bali, like Tulamben, Lembongan and of course Pemuteran.  Finally we discussed basic first aid treatments, especially for small injuries and jellyfish stings.  A big thank you once again to Edi for a well-taught program!

By 12 am everyone had heads full with lots of information but at the same time very empty bellies ;-) So we arranged a big lunch for everyone.

We hope they will not need to put the knowledge in practice, but at least we are sure that the staff in Pemuteran will know what to do in case of an emergency!  A similar program will take place in Lembongan and is actually sponsored by DAN Asia Pacific, another one will be held in Sanur in April and Bali Diving Academy will send managers and staff to participate to gain new knowledge and to refresh the old one.

At the same time had the chance to congratulate Gede Anggir on finally receiving his PADI Divemaster card and certificate.

While this was time for celebration it was also a sad moment, as it was time to say goodbye properly to our long term Instructor Komang Astika, who has decided to concentrate more on his Biorock work and new guesthouse this year.  He will be missed, but he is still right next door, he will keep working closely with us on various projects for the Biorock and beyond.  We wish him the best of luck for the future!
